Panagiotis LIARGOVAS

Professor of Economics, University of Peloponnese

Panagiotis Liargovas was born in Athens in 1963. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Athens. He subsequently pursued postgraduate and doctoral studies at Clark University in Massachusetts. He has been a fellow of the Fulbright Program, the Bakalas Public Benefit Foundation, and Clark University, where he also served as a teaching assistant. He has taught abroad at Clark University, the University of Bologna, and the University of Strasbourg, and in Greece at the Universities of Athens, Patras, and Crete.

He has worked as a trainee at the European Commission (Directorate-General for Structural Funds), as a special advisor at the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Municipality of Athens, and as Director at the National School of Public Administration. During the period 2012–2018, he served as Head of the Parliamentary Budget Office of the Hellenic Parliament President while during the period 2019-25 he was Chairman of the BoD and Scientific Director of the Centre of Planning and Economic Research and of the National Productivity Board.

He is Professor of Economics at the University of the Peloponnese and a member of the BoD, as well as of the Risk Management, Corporate Governance and Human Resources Committees of Credia Bank. He has published more than 100 articles in international academic journals and has authored over 20 books.
